In 2010, Alan won a scholarship to study at the Prestigious international design school, POLIMODA in Florence, Italy, founded by Salvatore Ferragamo. Whilst studying there, Alan was classically trained in the art of bespoke shoemaking, where he worked alongside master shoe artisan Roberto Ugolini. In 2016 Alan was a finalist in Vogue Italia Who’s On Next.

In 2012 Alan moved to London and began working for renowned British footwear brand Nicholas Kirkwood where he honed his skills in both commercial and runway focused designs.

After his tenure at Kirkwood, Alan successfully launched the women’s contemporary footwear brand, NEOUS which is now stocked in all key leading department stores around the world including Net-a-Porter, Bergdorf Goodman, Harrods and Level Shoe District.

NEOUS was selected as a finalist in the 2019 British Vogue Fashion Fund.

In 2020, Alan launched his debut men’s shoe collection, BUANNE, inspired by the modern man who is seeking a fashionable alternative to sneakers. BUANNE aims to provide made-in-Italy shoes to customers globally that are creative, versatile and innovative.

In 2023 BUANNE was nominated as a finalist by Drapers Online for Designer of The Year, Best New Brand and Best Footwear Brand.
